We are delighted that Fergus Garrett will deliver the 32nd Percy Picton Memorial Lecture on the 1st October 2018. His subject for the evening is Succession Planting in the Mixed Border.
Fergus is making a very welcome return to Colwall. Well known to many at the Society, Fergus has spoken to us many times in the past, though not for over 10 years now. His reputation and that of Great Dixter spreads far and wide with horticulturalists from all over the world beating a path to his door. If you have not heard Fergus speak before then you are in for a real treat. His passion for plants and gardens is unparalleled.
The lecture is held annually by Wyche and Colwall Horticultural Society to raise funds for the Percy Picton Memorial Fund. The charity gives financial support to local horticultural students.
Tickets for the lecture are £12 per person which includes complementary refreshments. Tickets can be purchased from Old Court Nursery and John Goodwin Estate Agents, both in Colwall.
The lecture will be held at The Elms school in Colwall with complementary refreshments available from 7pm and the lecture commencing at 7:30pm. Because there is very little parking available at The Elms we are requested to park either at the village hall or on side roads near the school. There is a drop-off point closer to the hall for people who may find the walk a little too far.
The evening is also the occasion for the annual Ernest Ballard Aster Competition. One entry per person of a vase of Michaelmas Daisies, preferably mixed varieties. The trophy is awarded to the best exhibit.
We do hope you will be able to join us for what should prove to be an entertaining evening.
