We are delighted that Sidney and Veronica Benjamin are happy to welcome members of the WCHS to visit their beautiful garden in Colwall. The garden at Alderley is approximately 2 acres and planted for all year-round interest. It contains a large number of unusual shrubs and trees as well as roses, climbers and herbaceous plants. The garden is divided into several distinct areas including a semi-formal parterre with roses and herbs. It has herbaceous and shady borders, ponds, ‘arboretum’, kitchen garden, kitchen garden and orchard. A recent addition is an area devoted to rhododendrons and hydrangeas and a bank planted with alpines! This will be a lovely opportunity to visit their garden, chat with friends and other members of the Society and enjoy a glass of wine or apple juice.
Tickets cost £5 and proceeds will go to the Benjamin’s chosen charity, The Herefordshire Growing Point which provides therapeutic gardening for people with physical and mental health issues. They had a display at the Malvern show and have an informative website for those interested in finding out more.
Tickets will be on sale at the June meeting and are limited to 50. More information re directions and parking will be given out at the meeting as there is no parking at the house.
