PPML October Meeting: ‘A Beautiful Obsession-A Plantsmans Journey in His Own Garden’ with Jimi Blake.

The annual Percy Picton Memorial Lecture is nearly upon us! Tickets sales are going well with only a few still available from John Goodwin Estate Agents in Colwall or The Picton Gardens and Old Court Nurseries. Alternatively call Liz Thomas (01886 880386).

Doors open from 7pm for drinks and nibbles at Colwall Village Hall leaving plenty of opportunity to enjoy the entries to the Ernest Ballard Aster Competition, to buy a raffle ticket and socialise. Jimi’s talk will begin at 7.30pm.

I would like to encourage you to take part in the Aster Competition. Bring along a vase of Michaelmas Daisies, preferably mixed varieties. Only one entry per person and the trophy is awarded to the best exhibit.

I have heard from multiple sources that Jimi is a fabulous speaker so we can look forward to a very enjoyable evening. Jimi will be giving this talk based on his book, ‘A Beautiful Obsession’ sharing his design philosophy and introducing us to the exciting and creative planting combinations that his Hunting Brook Garden in Ireland has become famous for. You can follow him on Instagram: jimiblake_huntingbrookgardens – it’s a real treat to look at his photos and videos as well as listen to some great gardening advice.

Monthly plant sales have finished for the year but please bring along some pound coins and £5 notes to buy some raffle tickets! You are also welcome to bring a plate of finger food to share!

We look forward to welcoming you next Monday 3rd October.
