We are delighted that Carol Klein will deliver the 33rd Percy Picton Memorial Lecture on the 7th October 2019. Her subject for the evening is Making a Garden.
Carol, who is fast becoming a National Treasure, is well known to us all from her many appearances on BBC Gardeners’ World and her many books and articles. She has a true passion for plants and it is this infectious passion she will be sharing with us.
The lecture is held annually by Wyche and Colwall Horticultural Society to raise funds for the Percy Picton Memorial Fund. The charity gives financial support to local horticultural students.
Tickets for the lecture are £12 per person which includes complementary refreshments. Tickets can be purchased from Old Court Nursery and John Goodwin Estate Agents, both in Colwall.
The lecture will be held at The Elms school in Colwall with complementary refreshments available from 7pm and the lecture commencing at 7:30pm. Because there is very little parking available at The Elms we are requested to park either at the village hall or on side roads near the old school. There is a drop-off point closer to the hall for people who may find the walk a little too far.
The evening is also the occasion for the annual Ernest Ballard Aster Competition. One entry per person of a vase of Michaelmas Daisies, preferably mixed varieties. The trophy is awarded to the best exhibit.
We do hope you will be able to join us for what should prove to be an entertaining evening.
