Monday 7th September: Magnolias and Hergest Croft Gardens

Rowan Griffiths will be talking about the gardens at Hergest Croft, where he has been a gardener for 15 years. His duties include responsibility for the recording and labelling of the collection and he is also a member of the RHS Rhododendron, Camellia and Magnolia group, International Dendrology Society and Maple Society.

Hergest Croft is located near Kington in Herefordshire. The stunning 70 acre gardens have been created and extended by five generations of the Banks family, and boast one of the finest collections of plants and shrubs in the UK, with many rare and exotic species and over 130 Champion trees, as well as national collections of Maples, Birches and Zelkovas. Rowan is pictured here with a Magnolia macrophylla.

The talk will start at 7.30pm in Colwall Village Hall. However, do come along from 7pm to enjoy a hot drink and a chat as well as the plant stall and raffle.
