Our next meeting is on Monday 6th September and our speaker is Sally Gregson from Mill Cottage Plants in Somerset. We are happy to announce that this meeting will be held in Colwall Village Hall. Please arrive in time for a 7.30pm start. This meeting is free.
As this is our first face to face meeting since March 2019 and pre- covid restrictions, there will be no raffle or refreshments to enable us to space out the chairs as much as we can. We ask that masks are worn inside the hall. Windows will be opened to ensure good ventilation.
Our speaker, Sally Gregson, trained in nursery practice at Hadlow College, Kent and then worked as a propagator before setting up her own nursery, Mill Cottage Plants in Somerset, which is well known for its specialism in rare hydrangeas. Sally is a regular writer for many publications including the Country Garden Magazine and lectures widely.
Her talk will provide suggestions for planting in difficult spots ranging from dry shade under trees to heavy damp areas and hopefully she will have the opportunity to answer questions from a live audience.
The Percy Picton Memorial Lecture is going ahead on Monday 4th October! James Alexander Sinclair’s talk, ‘Bucolic Bliss’ is the story behind the creation both of his garden and other country gardens he has created. Tickets will be on sale at the meeting. They will also go on sale soon at John Goodwins Estate Agents in Colwall and The Old Court Nursery, Walwyn Rd.
On behalf of the WCHS committee, we look forward to seeing on Monday 6th September in person!
