Monday 2nd February: “Crayfish on the Lawn”

On Monday Joff Elphick will be telling us about “Crayfish on the Lawn ... and other gardening stories: Plants, People and Natural History.”

Our March meeting sees the return of the very popular plant stall raising money for the Percy Picton Memorial Fund. We need as many people as possible to contribute plants for sale, so if you’ve been splitting clumps of snowdrops, dividing your perennials or have spare cuttings or seedlings please bring them along.

It’s really helpful if plants come labelled with a name and price, though any unsold plants do need to be taken back home at the end of the meeting. So please bring some money to spend on the plant stall and a bag … we need to keep the floor of the village hall free of compost!

“I show videos of things that I promise you have never seen before. I play audio from gardening experts and several well known celebrities who love their gardens. I also include photos of interesting plants and other things I have seen while down on my hands and knees rooting about in the borders!”

As a student Joff worked for Mary Keen while studying horticulture at Pershore under Chris Beardshaw. Later he worked at the National Collection of Rambling Roses in Gloucestershire, at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, The National Trust Gardens Department, and as Assistant Head Gardener for Rosemary Verey at Barnsley House. In addition to working as a professional gardener, Joff now hosts gardening podcasts and blogs.

Doors open from 7pm for a 7.30 start.
