We are very pleased to welcome Andrew Mikolajski back to Colwall – he gave us a talk on climbers back in 2018. On Monday he will be talking about Trees: We should all be planting more trees. How do you decide which are best for you?
Our annual Michael Jefferson-Brown competition is held at the April meeting and we would love as many members to take part as possible. There are 2 classes:
- Pot or container of growing flowering bulbs, corms or tubers
- Vase or container of cut flowers grown from bulbs, corms or tubers
Entries are judged on quality and presentation, with a trophy awarded for best overall exhibit.
Based in Northamptonshire, Andrew Mikolajski is the author of over forty gardening titles. Recent works include books on pests and diseases, orchids, houseplants, lasagne gardening and permaculture.
He has also contributed to many RHS reference works and was a consultant on the latest revision of the RHS Encyclopedia of Gardening, as well as being an RHS judge.
Andrew has taught garden design and RHS certificate at Warwickshire College, and garden history at the English Gardening School at Chelsea Physic Garden. He leads garden tours and masterclasses at Lamport Hall (home of the garden gnome) in Northamptonshire as well as speaking to garden clubs and societies across a large area of England.
The talk will start at 7.30pm. However, do come along from 7pm to enjoy a hot drink and chat, the plant stall and raffle. Please bring along a bag for any plants you buy from the stall as we need to keep the floor of the village hall clean and free of compost.
